Dear silly Soap Opera,

I watch you because I want to be happy. Today's storyline does not make me happy at all! I have cried over it - probably because I am really sick but seriously - the cute gay couple split up by the religious family should not end up with the creepy religious family winning. Poor Simone. No more storylines like this for him. He's a recurring gay character which I am pleased about but please give him a boyfriend and let his friends have happy relationships instead of breaking them up all the time.

Also, can Lily and Heston have more screen time because they're adorable. Fuck, we just need more Lily stories. Dr. Vampire provides the very best stories - usually with murder.

Not at all happy,

Roz

The internet died for the whole of Sunday and most of this morning. I'd not realised how much I rely on it for everything I need - like train time tables and other things. So happy to be back online. *hugs internet and doesn't ever let go*

I desperetly want Samphire. Just the idea of some salty, crispy greens is something I've been craving in this heat. Despite all my cooking magazines talking about it I've not been able to find it in our local super-markets.

I have a whole page of nummy recipies here and I'm very sniffly about not being able to make any of them.

Also, my laptop has died a death. My parents are briging my computer back next weekend and we're going to the Cardiff Food Festival. Maybe there will be Samphire there.

London, 1840

For years the Undead have hidden in London, guarded by their own political system –The Council – and an allegiance with three of the strongest political families of the day. In exchange for the loss of independence they have lived free from their fear of an imminent mob. But all that is changing. A dark figure stalks the London streets, murdering those who cross its path and already whispers have begun to spread that this is the work of something inhuman. They undead must find a way to stop this creature before it’s too late, or risk being blamed for its crimes.

I've still not got a job. I was turned down for the last one that I had such high hopes for so I'm back at the beginning. Jon, on the other hand, has just snagged a second job.

I really need a job.

Updates on Jobs

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well, the second job interview is a bust. I'm really not comfortably with some of the things they wanted us to so that's not going to happen, but at least I get paid for having gone there.

The first job however is just the sort of thing I could do quite happily and as my temp agency says: I know they were impressed with you and you are a contender for the position.

The first job interview went really well, and I rocked a pretty navy interview look which I love more than I should but I put it all together for less than £40 so I'm really pleased. That's shoes, blouse, cami-top, skirt and summer long cardigan so I am very impressed with myself - and girly, did I mention girly? Will hear back from them tomorrow if I got the job.

Tomorrow is the playgroup interview for which I am also being paid so I can't wait for that either.

Go me!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I have a job interview at 10.30 tomorrow and another one on Tueday at 10. I'm very excited about both of these, as you would be. The first one is as an appointment booker and I'd be working from home earning £96 a week. The second is for a playgroup that won't be running until the school holidays and will be about £160 a week. Hopefully, I could do both and fit one around the other.

In other news, if you haven't seen it, [info]hydepark_corner is accepting applications! I'm very excited about this game and I hope you guys will be too. Its going to be a fun, plot and character driven game with much more emphasis on storylines. I really can't wait to start playing or see what characters people come up with! Victorian Supernatural Games are teh win!

I am actually quite girly you know

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Since all the politics blogs I follow are depressing as hell today I thought it was high time I delved into a blog I'd saved but hadn't yet got around to read "Fat Girls like Fashion too". I'm not a fashion maven by any means. I know what I like (empire lines, I rock the pregnant look) and I know what I hate (leggings worn as trousers). Some things are too far out there for me and I wanted something that a) actually had things I could afford and b) wasn't American fashions because import tax is too high.

Yay for finding a blog about plus-size fashion in the UK high street then! I'm on the smaller size of plus - (14/16) - but it is hard even then to find things that work and haven't just been designed with thin girls in mind and then shaped up. It's also taken me far too long to begin dressing for my actual size rather than hanging onto an outdated vision of myself as a 10/12 - a size I only achieved after prolonged illness and which was hugely unhealthy. After having a massive clear out of my wardrobe which left me with very few pieces I'm now on the lookout for more fashionable, reasonably priced clothes.

I have also got my exercise bike out and done some work on it so I'm feeling really impressed with myself today so far. Later tonight there may even be a post about make-up with pictures as I'm feeling really girly.

So many things!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I've got an interview type thing tomorrow for a part time summer job in a play group. Go, transferable skills GNVQ, Go!
I'd really like to get this because a) money and b) working with babies and c) finishing before I go back to Uni in September.

Otherwise, so many pretty historical icons to look through and things to think about *is cryptic if you haven't seen Jon's blog*

Um

So, I'm going to try and get back into blogging on this journal. I don't really have very much to say at the moment. I'm very angry with the world and worried what the outcome of tomorrow's EU elections will bring. I'm sorry I've not been on here for a while.

Long time, no Blog but I just couldn’t let this one pass.
Heinz has pulled a new ad featuring two men chastely kissing after 200 complaints. Having seen the add which is nothing but sweet and funny I can’t believe they’d pull it for a bunch of homophobic bigots with their knickers in a twist.

I’ve already emailed their complaints line and will continue with this. I am also not going to buy anything of Heinz till this problem is sorted.

Lets see if we can’t get 200 complaints in protest of this silly decision and have that lovely, sweet advert back on the air!

Given the recent debacle over the HP RPG named Kristallnacht and how it was like over seventy years ago now I felt I’d tell you what the Nazi Regime means to me.

It meant that when I asked my grandma about her life in Germany that she started crying.

It meant that when she died and we went though her things we dealt with the horrible guilt of what her life had been there. She was in the German Maidens League. We have her pin with the Nazi swastika on it that she wore everywhere when she was a child.

For my mother it meant being spat at in school for being the child of a German immigrant after the war.

And for me it meant last night crying with my boyfriend about the murder of his family in a concentration camp.

So I don’t think you can really claim that the Nazi’s and the Holocaust don’t affect anyone anymore.

Overwhellemed

Sorry for the lack of updates. Firstly the new RP has been doing better than I ever imagined it would and I've been kept busy by that. Then I've just acquired the position of social events co-ordinator for our society and now I've come down with a horrible infection thing that requires lots of tests, some horrible anti-biotic and more doctors appointments. *sigh*

Meta? hah!

http://asylums.insanejournal.com/metametameta/3735.html? - This is stupid.

Her copyright. Her works. She said no, he should have fucked off. That is the end of it.

But no, it must be about money, as always. Not that you wouldn't want to protect something you've put all your effort into for the last 17 years.

The BBC could bring down the internet!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article3716781.ece

The title really gives away how little the author knows about the internet, yes?
The basic premise – BBC IPlayer is very popular. One company can’t keep up with the demand and is trying to pressure the BBC to pay for upgrades to their servers by blaming the BBC and forewarning it will bring down the internet.

The IPlayers gets between 3 and 5% of traffic in the UK. This sounds like a lot but compared to multinational companies such as Amazon and Ebay it’s a drop in the ocean. It also fails to take into account the limited net use in the UK as compared to other countries and the fact that although many people have the internet not everyone will be using BBC IPlayer.
It’s praying on most people’s fears and also on the belief that most people don’t know the first thing about computers or how the internet works and will become panicked and demand ‘something be done’!

Bella

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Bella is home with us now. The vet gave her a clean bill of health but told us to keep any eye on her as they were unable to pinpoint a reason for why she was ill. She could have something very wrong with her stomach or she could be allergic to something in her food.

Today she had to have a bath as she had a rather icky tummy. She cried out very sadly but was a good girl and let me bath and dry her without any other fuss which is much less than what she gave the vet by all accounts.

Currently she's asleep. Hopefully she should feel better soon.

Also, thank god for kittie insurance because otherwise we were looking at £320 for her upset stomach.
